A place where young people come together
We play games, learn new skills, and try fun activities
We do activities both indoors and outdoors
Here is what the Howth Sea Scouts building looks like from the outside:
A tall stone building with a grey slate roof
Three windows on the top floor
Two large doorways at the front; one to the boat deck and the door to the right is the main door to the den.
A sign that says 'Howth Scout Group'
Cars sometimes parked outside
The main door is tall wood with a white sign above it
This is the door you will go in when you arrive.
When you walk inside:
You will see a hallway
Light-coloured walls with Scout symbols
Stairs going up on the left
Equipment stored nearby (normal)
A blue doorway to the right
It may look busy but it is safe
The toilets are just beside the front door on the right:
Two toilet doors with blue frames
Hand sanitiser on the wall
Fire extinguishers nearby
This helps you know exactly where the toilets are located.
These are the stairs to the main hall:
Wooden handrail
Large purple Scout symbol on the wall
You go up these stairs to reach the main room
Door to the Main hall
At the top of the stairs:
There is a blue door to the Main hall
A noticeboard with information
Fire extinguishers (normal)
The door leads into the big main hall
The Den
This is the main room upstairs where we do a lot of our indoor activities.
We play a game at the start of the session as people are arriving.
After a few minutes when everyone is hear we get into a circle and we do a roll call. When you hear your name called you say ‘Here’
After this we will do some activities.
At the end of the evening we will all gather around in a circle again before we leave.
Parents/Guardians will then collect you at the front door when the session is over. When you point out your parents/guardians to us you can go home with them.
It is a good idea to go to the toilet before you arrive.
If you need to go to the toilet tell one of the adults with you and we will bring you down.
